MathZone is the McGraw-Hill product. If you don’t already have WebCT or something similar on campus, that might be an option. Accepting alternative forms of the answer is the biggest problem for all of these systems. Typically the entire text of the textbook is available online in PDF form, sometimes with hot links: All other testing tools were limited to multiple choice answer, or required a write-out answer in one particular form. Unfortunately, I could not get it to work in this setting.
All other testing tools were limited to multiple choice answer, or required a write-out answer in one particular form. This can be used for tutorials, homework problems or tests. Students can connect to their assignments directly from WebCT. Keep in mind, however, that once you have your course set up in a publisher’s system, it will be very hard to change books. Pearson, McGraw-Hill and Houghton-Mifflin all have their own course management systems, and maybe other publishers as well.
If it doesn’t, you need to decide if you can live with that or not. She ran into some problems with MathXL that have not been resolved yet. The problem sets have not been changed in many years, and we have received some student complaints about these courses recently.
It is now marketed and licensed by a company called Brownstone in a number of different versions. MathXL has the most stable and uniform interface of the systems I tried. ALEKS assesses each student’s knowledge and decides which blocks the student need to study next, and in which order.

Several other scripts attendance, changing study groups, etc. The courses continued and were eventually moved into WebCTbut not otherwise updated. All assignments may be graded to show final grade, final grade and the problem solutions, or neither, and practice, homework and proctored assignments can send e-mail to the instructor with xerver result s on the assignment.
This was very unfortunate for our efforts in online teaching.
The publishers are closing the gap, but they are not quite there yet. I tried many of these things a year or two ago.
Unfortunately, I could not get it to work in this setting.
MathZone is the McGraw-Hill product. It would be my first choice for self-study in mathematics at the high school or beginning college level. The equation editor has some counter-intuitive behavior, but this is supposed to get fixed by June Accepting alternative forms of the answer is the biggest problem for all of these systems.

For each assignment one or more problems are selected, at random, from each topic in a predetermined list. On the bad side, we have run into many annoying bugs with the user interface and record-keeping in the various forms of eGrade. If a servver can’t do a problem, ALEKS will give hints, give easier problems, go back to earlier topics, whatever is necessary.
We have basically achieved all this, but it took more than two years to initially set it up, and another year or two to fine-tune it.
Their products combine examples, tutorials, and tests into one program, and the tutorials are quite good. Actually, we had one little problem: I don’t like that. The major publishers are trying to get in on the act. It has a lot of nice features, including videos and links to computer algebra systems for further exploration. Some of them also have problems with formula entry equation editor.
For the Unixly inclined. CourseCompass does not have these restrictions, only MathXL. One part is the mathematics problem engine, which will present a problem to a student and grade egtade answer.
Keep in mind, however, that once you have your course set up in a publisher’s system, it will serverr very hard to change books. This probably makes it more efficient to run later, but it might be a problem if the students are not capable of doing that on their own.
On the good side, EduSpace appears to be based on Maple, and is more forgiving if the student enters the answer to a write-out problem in a different form than expected. Each course was broken into 12 units, approximately one per week.
This is the main reason egfade continue to use eGrade. Other scripts back up all course files daily. Some of them let you enter your own problems.
